S.M.S. Italia Cemetery

Tampa, Florida

This group was originally part of The Italian Club (L'Unione Italiana). However, in 1910, a small group of older immigrants became dissatisfied with the leadership and formed their own splinter group La Societa di Mutuo Soccorso Italia. There are a very few surviving members. Reportedly, the group still pays death benefits. This cemetery is in a small section of the L'Unione Italiana cemetery. There used to be a fence around their section of land. The fence fell into disrepair and was removed.
