"During a yellow
fever scare in 1899, three elderly Jacksonville women
traveling through Tampa found themselves trapped and
stranded by the quarantine. Responding to appeals, a
group of Tampa women pooled resources to provide them a
room and a helper. This was the birth of The Old People's
Home and what is now known as The Home Association, Inc. "...our existing building [is] located in Tampa on four acres donated by the Peter O. Knight family and the Baptist City Mission Board." |
